- Maths Challenge of the week:
- Oral Language Game: Make a Feely Bag. Get your Mam or Dad to put lots of different things into a bag (e.g. a shopping bag). You have to reach your hand into the bag, hold onto one thing, and describe how it feels. Is it soft? Is it rough? Is it smooth? Does it have corners? Then you have to guess what you think it could be. Remember no peaking until you've made a guess!! Here are some ideas of things you could put into your Feely Bag.

Tuesday 19th May
English: Today we will practice two new initial consonant blends: bl and pl. Listen to the first minute of this song (focusing on bl and pl) to learn more about these sounds!
Maths: Money
We are going to learn about money and today we are going to look at coins! When do we use coins? We use them when we're buying a bottle of water in the shop, when we're putting a coin in the shopping trolley, when we're buying a t-shirt in Penney's. Remember we don't ever put coins near our mouth!
Ask your child the following questions:
- What shape is this coin?
- What colour is this coin?
- Which coin is the smallest? Which is the biggest?
- What is the value of this coin? (e.g. 10c, 20c)
- What is on the front of the coin? What is on the back?
- Is the edge of this coin smooth or ridged?
- Put a coin on the table and put a sheet of paper on top. Make sure to hold the coin and paper in place so it doesn't move!
- Use a pencil/sharp crayon and gently rub the tip over the coin until the coin design appears.
- What clothes does a doctor/nurse etc. usually wear when they're working?
- How do the doctors, nurses etc. help people? (do x-rays, help women have babies, perform operations etc).
- Do you think a doctor's/nurse's/paramedic's job is important? Why?
- How have the doctors, nurses etc. been helping us recently?
- What is something we can do to show the key workers who work at hospitals that we are grateful for what they are doing? (Make an art picture to stick on the window, clap for them etc).
Remember our narrative writing template? You can use this to help you draw pictures and write your story!
Maths: Number 10
Today we are going back to our ten-frame! We're going to make number stories with three numbers to make 10 altogether, and we're going to use our ten-frame to help us!
Here comes the tricky bit! Can you write the number story? This ten-frame has 3 red circles, 4 green circles and 3 yellow circles, so the number story is 3 + 4 + 3 = 10. Here are some more ten-frames for you to figure out!

- What costs the least money?
- What costs the most money?
